Coverage and one-coat claims have conditions
Use coverage figures only from the label or data sheet for the selected product. For example, the BEHR DYNASTY page states up to 400 square feet per gallon, while also noting that particular colors, new drywall, repaired areas, stains, surface preparation, or other conditions may require additional coats or a separate primer. Treat manufacturer coverage as an input to review, not a promise that a room will need one specific number of gallons.
A reliable purchase plan records the intended number of coats, primer requirements, and the surface condition. If the surface changes after patching, cleaning, sanding, or color selection, update the estimate before buying the final quantity.
