Use product data, not a brand ranking
A tile name is not enough to determine whether a product fits a particular floor, wall, wet location, exterior exposure, or installation method. The useful first comparison is the published category and the current technical document for the exact item, size, finish, and intended use. Manufacturers publish different ceramic, porcelain, natural-stone, glass, and mosaic offerings, but no general category statement replaces the data for the tile that will actually be ordered.

What to confirm on the exact tile record
Use the manufacturer page or product data sheet for the individual tile rather than applying a general material label to every product. Match the selected item to the location, substrate, layout, grout-joint plan, movement-joint details, and any project-specific performance requirement. For floors, wet locations, accessibility, exterior exposure, or code-regulated work, obtain the applicable requirements from the project documents and qualified local professionals.
- Record the product name, size, finish, and any stated use limitations before calculating quantities.
- Request or purchase a sample because online images do not establish the delivered color, texture, or finish.
- Verify the manufacturer installation instructions and compatibility of setting materials with the substrate and tile.

Plan the quantity separately from the specification
